International Women's Day
“Here’s to strong women.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them.”
- Michelle Obama
Today we celebrate International Women’s Day to honor all the incredible women in our lives. This special day is a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women as well as a call to action for bridging the gap of gender inequality.
In a society built by men for men, women are faced with the constant battle to prove themselves and their worth. This patriarchal world often fails to value the incredible insight and ability women can uniquely bring to the table. The women before us are to thank for fighting for our equality and it is our duty to do the same for future generations of women so that females can continue to thrive.
This one day a year is a beautiful opportunity to honor the women in our lives that have made significant impacts on us and the advancement of all women. Beyond just this one day, may we show up every day for these women and display our appreciation for all that they do for us and the world.
My own mother has shown me how with hard work, determination, and belief in yourself that any woman can have the same dreams and accomplish the same things as men. My mother leads by example, she was selected as the first female CEO for the United Way of the Bay Area and completely transformed the organization in her 20 years as the leader there. She often was the only woman in the room leading meetings and telling the men what to do. She ran up against only male CEOs of Fortune 500 companies multiple years in a row for the Business Times Most Influential CEO award. She won the award every year she was nominated. Strong women who are leaders like my mother are examples for all women that there is no limit on the places you can go and the things you can achieve in your life, you might just have to fight a little bit harder than your male counterparts. But that fight makes it all the more worth the success and through your own battle you pave the way for the future generation of women.
At Boite De Luxe, we take International Women’s Day especially seriously as we are a women-owned and employed company. We value the hard work and vision of women and love fostering a work environment built on the foundation of strong women.
Gifting one of our forever rose arrangements to the special women in your life will remind them every day that they are valued and appreciated and that their hard work does not go unnoticed. Some rose colors we recommend for this holiday are yellow which represents friendship, pink which represents gratitude, grace, and joy, red which represents love and romance, and white which represents purity and innocence. Some of our top picks include our Hydrangea X Rose mix and our L’eau.
